What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. They help sites work properly, remember your preferences, and help us understand how this one is used.
How we use them
- Essential: needed for the site to function.
- Analytics: to understand traffic and improve the site, through Google Analytics and PostHog.
- Marketing: where relevant, tools from Google and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) that help us measure and improve our advertising.
PostHog
PostHog tells us which pages people actually use and where they get stuck, so we can fix the parts that do not work. It never records your screen or your keystrokes, we do not use it to identify you by name, and your data is held on PostHog's European servers.
In the UK, EU and Switzerland it stores nothing on your device until you turn analytics on: no cookie, no local storage. It counts the page view and forgets you as soon as you move on, so we cannot follow you from one page to the next or recognise you if you come back. Turn analytics on and it stores an anonymous ID, which is what lets us see those journeys. Elsewhere it stores that anonymous ID by default, and you can switch it off.
Either way, Manage cookies in the footer changes your mind at any time, and switching analytics off deletes what PostHog had stored.
Managing cookies
You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking some may affect how the site works. Where required, we will ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.
You can also opt out of advertising and analytics tracking directly with the providers:
